Titanic record breaker

Titanic Honour And Glory, which is free to view, tells the story of the liner and her sister ships and contains original artefacts such as chinaware and props from the blockbuster movie.

One family from Weesp in the Netherlands spent an afternoon at the museum during their summer holiday.

The Kortbeek family sailed over to Grimsby before travelling to Whitby.

They visited the Fishing Heritage Centre and were enthralled with the attraction's latest temporary exhibition.

Bert Kortbeek said: "The Titanic exhibition is really fascinating and it's a great opportunity to see some of the original items from this famous ship.

"My wife and I have been to Grimsby before and liked this museum.

"It's one of the main reasons that we came back with our children.

"After visiting this museum you understand the history of the town, how it grew to being such an important fishing port and its more recent downturn in trade."

The exhibition is on loan from a small crew called Titanic Honour And Glory.

Sean Szmalc and Margot Corson are the exhibition managers and are dedicated to bringing the legend of the Titanic, her sister ships and the White Star Line alive.

Titanic Honour And Glory began its UK tour in 2002 and since then has been visited by over two-million people and has a recently been awarded as one of the top five exhibitions in the United Kingdom by the Times Newspaper.

Visitors can also enjoy a tour around the museum and discover what life was like for trawlermen in the 1950s.

Entry to the main part of the exhibition cost £6 for adults, £2 for children, £4 for concessions and £12 for a family ticket.

This also permits entry to the attraction's Ross Tiger trawler, berthed behind the museum in Alexandra Dock.

The museum offers guided tours around this vessel, helping to bring the story of the town's maritime heritage to life.
